About Ryan

At age nine Ryan got his first guitar. It was only a tiny half-sized guitar from J.C, Penney, but it was enough to spark a life long love of music. From then on he lived and breathed music day and night. He learned the basics from his older brother, took lessons from an amazing local teacher, and spent hours every day sitting in front of the stereo learning how to play any music he could get his hands on.

Throughout junior high and high school living in The Woodlands, Texas Ryan pursued his passion for creating music. He released two full length albums and performed all around town with his rock and blues band, Vintage Soul. He played saxophone in the school band, classical guitar in the school orchestra, and jazz guitar in the Texas Regional Jazz Band. After High School Ryan attended St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas where he studied Creative Writing and Music. While in college he co-founded the university's first jazz band, recorded an album of original solo material, and played guitar in the eclectic rock band Love Mafia Jazz, which released two EPs in 2005 and 2006.

Ryan holds a Master's Degree in Music Performance from Brooklyn College and shares his passion for music through teaching both private music lessons and Early Education music classes which his leads at various pre-schools, daycares and education centers around NYC. Whether he is teaching or performing Ryan’s love for creating and sharing music guides his path. He lives with his wife and two children in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

-Early Education Music Classes and Private Lessons-

For his last semester of college Ryan traveled abroad and attended The National University of Ireland in Galway. While in Ireland Ryan joined up playing bass/vocals for the locally popular roots/blues band No Banjo. Along with members of that band and other local Galway musicians he recorded an album of original songs under the band name Ryan and the Lions. It was true collaboration of some of Galway's finest players and through that experience he developed a deep attachment to Ireland and the people he met there. In 2007, Ryan moved to his current home New York City where he recorded more original music and collaborated with many local acts. In 2009, formed The Third Wheel Band with bandmates Greg Barresi and Steph Allen. The bluegrass trio performed their brand of America Roots music all around the New York City area earning a loyal fan base and recording three albums.
